This is not the type of basketball coach Chris Fraioli wanted his team to be playing as the team hits the quarter pole. For the third straight outing the Marauders were on the wrong end of a lopsided score, falling 78-42 on Tuesday in Brookline. They were defeated 86-52 to visiting Newton North on Friday and had been coming off a big loss to Wellesley.

"It’s gut check time, we knew we were going to hit this part of schedule and it was going to be tough," said Fraioli, whose team is 3-12 overall and 1-10 in the Bay State Conference and has lost eight in a row and hosts Norwood, winners of three straight, tomorrow night. "Now we all have to look in the mirror and starting giving a little bit more.

"Tonight was purely an effort thing. We played well in the first quarter, but when we fell behind we stopped making an effort to defend. … We’re not the type of team that can score 70 points with ease like Newton North and Brookline."

A three-point deficit after one quarter quickly blew up into a 35-19 hole at halftime and the Warriors led by 27 entering the fourth.

Jeremy Clifford was the leading scorer for Dedham with 15 points while Sean Birchall added 10.

The Marauders were worn down by the Tigers as they trailed 41-30 at the break, but were outscored 45-22 in the second half.

Birchall had 18 points while Clifford added 10.
