Having been on the wrong end of a rally earlier in the week, the Dedham High girls soccer team found out how it felt to be on the other side against Walpole yesterday, erasing an early deficit and scoring four unanswered goals in a 6-2 win.

Both team entered hoping to kickstart drives toward the postseason after tough stretches. The Marauders improved to 3-5-2, snapping a three-game skid, while the Rebels fall to 3-7-1, its fifth straight defeat.

“We definitely needed to win today,” said Dedham coach Don Savi. “We have a got a lot of games coming up and we need as many points as we can get.”

Patrice Vettori had two goals and two assists while Nicole Savi also scored twice to pace Dedham. But it was the Rebels that struck first just 2:20 in when Walpole pounded home a rebound.

Vettori tied it in the 11th minute and Vettori gave Dedham a brief edge in the 28th. But Walpole answered just three minutes later.

The Marauders managed to swing the momentum back to their side in a big way going to the half. Vettori gave the Marauders the lead for good with a shot off the crossbar and Nadine Abou-Hamad applied a dagger with 10 seconds left in the half as the game-time call-up from the junior varsity pocketed her first varsity goal to make it 4-2 at the half.

Nicole Savi buried a free kick from just outside the box early in the second for the 5-2 advantage and Jenna Savi capped the scoring on breakaway.
