Paul Dupre ripped a free kick into the lower left corner from just outside the box in the 57th minute to salvage a 2-2 tie for the Xaverian Brothers soccer team with visiting Malden Catholic yesterday.

Xaverian, now 5-1-3 overall and 2-0-2 in Catholic Conference play had a pair quality chances over the later stages of the game but were unable to convert and earn the second point.

“It was frustrating, we were playing well and executing well, but we were down 2-1,” said Xaverian coach Gary Bowers.

The Hawks went on top after just six minutes when Nick Logie won the ball out of a crowd and fed Nolan Comiskey at the top of the box and the Walpole native found the low right side of the net.

The Lancers equalized on a 30-yard free kick in the 21st minute and claimed the lead in the 29th on an own goal.

Nobles 4, Middlesex 1

Max White had a goal and an assist in the first half as the Bulldogs jumped out to a lead and topped host Middlesex yesterday.

White headed in a Colin Coughlin corner in the 18th minute for the Bulldogs first goal in October.

In the 35th, White chipped a free kick from about 40 yards from goal into the box and Chris Pratt headed it in for a 2-0 lead at halftime.

“We’ve been shutout the last two games, so it was nice to finish and get back on track and put us in a good spot in the league,” said Nobles coach Steve Ginsberg, whose club improved to 4-1-1 and is in a tie for second place.

Middlesex pulled within a goal in the 75th, and continued to press the Nobles defensive third, but the Bulldogs sealed the three points with an Oliver White breakaway in the 85th and an 88th minute Kevin O’Block goal.

Corey Moynihan and Alex Conigliaro each had a pair of goals and an assist helping the Bulldogs roll past previously unbeaten Middlesex in Independent School League play.

Emily Wingrove added a goal and an assist, the goal coming just seconds before halftime for a 3-0 lead.

“We played really well, we had a tough game Monday against Rivers and we weren’t really sure how they would respond from a tough game and getting nicked up a little,” said Nobles coach Ben Snyder.

Moynihan opened the scoring in the sixth minute by getting on the other end of a Wingrove cross from the right side. Conigliaro doubled the lead with a partial breakaway and added her second in the 50th for a 4-0 advantage, getting on to the other end of a Mollie Young through ball. Moynihan capped the scoring with seven minutes to play.

Alex Johnson made four saves to record the shutout.
