Paige Keefe scored a pair of goals to lift the Marauders to 4-1 non-league win over Needham on Monday, improving Dedham to 8-2 overall on the season.
The news wasn’t all rosy for the Marauders in the contest as they lost their top defenseman when Tara Celata was penalized for a hit from behind, which carries an automatic game misconduct and two-game suspension.
“It wasn’t on purpose, everyone knew that,” said Dedham coach Don Parr, “Unfortunately that’s just part of the game and we have to move on.”
Dedham was coming off a 5-2 loss to Walpole. The Rebels, who moved into the tie for first in the Bay State Conference Herget Division with the win, built a 3-0 lead in the first period and held on despite a pair of goals in the third from Sam Girard.
The Marauders had all three lines clicking in last Wednesday’s 6-0 win over Natick. Colleen Downing led the way with a goal and two assists. Emily Mosca blanked the Red and Blue for the first two periods and into the third before Jamie Carty finished off Dedham’s third shutout of the season.
