The Marauders bid to sweep the Bay State Conference Herget co-leaders came up short on Tuesday night as Wellesley pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 56-47 win, dropping Dedham to 7-4 overall and 5-4 in the league.
After tying the game in the final quarter, the Marauders forced the Raiders into a bad shot, but Wellesley center Grace Miller got the offensive rebound and turned it into a three-point play to put the visitors up for good. Miller, who missed the first game with an injury, had nine of her game-high 17 points in the fourth.
Libby Masalsky led Dedham with 15 points in a balanced effort overall for the Marauders, who got 11 from Brianna Dozier, eight from Emily Hill and seven from Renee Gassler. Dedham was outscored 27-13 at the free throw line.
"It was a good basketball game," said Dedham coach Don Savi. "Other than a few turnovers and free throws, I thought we played well. We hung in there."
