Girls hockey can’t build momentum

The Marauders snapped a four-game skid with a 6-4 win over Bay State Carey-leading Braintree last Wednesday, but fell right back to earth with an 8-2 loss to Wellesley on Saturday and a 4-2 setback to Needham on Monday.

Dedham stood at 3-7 overall heading into last night’s scheduled game with Newton North.

Colleen Downing’s five-point night led the victory over the Wamps as the junior forward registered two goals and three assists. Bridget Coakley had what turned out to be the game-winner and added an assist while Christina Maloof had a two goals and an assist, including an empty-netter to seal it, while Sam Girard also found the net.

Downing and Emma Child each scored in the loss to the Raiders, who currently lead the Herget Division. Girard had both goals against Needham.
