Walpole native Doug Clapp won a pair of matches yesterday at the Kittanset Club in Marion to advance to the quarterfinals at the 100th Massachusetts Amateur.

Clapp, who plays out of Old Sandwich Golf Club, closed out Steven Tasho of Thorny Lea Golf Club with a birdie on the 13th hole for a 7 and 5 win, the most dominant win of the morning matches. In the afternoon, he dispatched Foxboro Country Club’s Scott Congdon 4 and 2 with birdies and 15 and 16. Clapp was cumulative 1-under for 29 holes.

Clapp, who earned the third seed head into match play with a two-day 143 stroke play totals, draws Kevin Quinn of Charles River CC in this morning’s quarterfinals, with the semifinals to follow in the afternoon.
