What does the Dedham Square Improvement Project look like?

The Dedham Square Improvement Project is a proposed makeover of downtown’s streets and sidewalks. The Dedham Transcript recently took a walk through the Square to capture the areas in the Square that would be renovated through this project. These photos are just a sampling of what will be improved if funding for the project is approved, but should provide the scope of this project. On Monday, May 16, Town Meeting is being asked to “appropriate” $6.1 million for the project. The state in October awarded Dedham $1.3 million in a state infrastructure grant. On Monday the state announced it would award $400,000 more toward the project if it is approved at Town Meeting, bringing the total to $1.7 million. The town plans to borrow the remainder in bonds to pay for the rest through its capital budget.
