In today’s current economic world, many landlords are offering incentives (reduction of rent) in order to keep loyal responsible tenants. Therefore, it is difficult to understand why Norwood is putting so many roadblocks in the path of the owner of the Old Colonial Café in his attempt to renew his lease.
It is well known by the citizens of Norwood that Paul Angelo has come forward and donated his services, with little or no cost, to the many activities that have needed assistance in raising funds. It certainly is obvious to those who dine at his restaurant that he has not only enhanced the appearance of the building, but has also added many needed improvements.
It would seem to me to be a lot more prudent to adhere to the original contract and keep the Old Colonial as a tenant than to move on to another unknown and untested leaser.
I would hope that the selectmen of our town would do all that is possible to keep this establishment in the present location under the protection of a very accountable and loyal citizen.
