To the Editor,
I read with utter disbelief and outrage the news of the unfair peremptorily “firing” of the very decent, capable, competent and compassionate Rita Kalcos, director of town of Dedham Council on Aging.
Among the “multitude” of elderly Dedham residents, my husband, Mathew Keany and I, both World War II veterans, benefited often and gratefully from Rita Kalcos’s compassionate and willing assistance.
It was difficult to believe the “no comment” attitude of both temporary director, town administrator, and selectman chairman, and their “take” on her dismissal: “A personnel issue, and therefore confidential.” Balderdash. Monstrously surreal, this action. Truly a miscarriage of justice. We fervently hope, and pray, that this decision is swiftly and judiciously reversed, and that our worthy director of the town of Dedham Council of Aging be restored to her rightfully- deserved position .
Respectfully submitted,
Janet C. Re’-Keany and Mathew Keany
