I just received an anonymous letter asking why a town vehicle was at the Registry of Motor Vehicles in North Attleboro recently, and inferring that its driver was there on personal business.
The answer is that the employee was there strictly on town business involving the registration of a new town vehicle.
The anonymous complaint said: “I will not sign this letter because I feel it will be read and thrown away, with the writer regarded as a troublemaker.”
I just want to assure anyone who has an honest complaint about any town department, whether it turns out to be valid or not, that he or she will not be regarded as a troublemaker or anything of the sort.
Anonymous complaints we receive are always checked out, but are problematic because they give us no way of responding to the complaint.
Lastly, while I’ve taken the time to answer this complaint through the press, I won’t make it a practice in the future. So, if you have a complaint, let us know who you are. We promise to get back to you and not regard you as a troublemaker.
