NORWOOD —

Many people are saying how unfortunate the situation with our former temporary superintendent is. I think there’s probably plenty of blame to go around with regard to it but rather than focus on who’s to blame, I think we should take this opportunity to refocus on what’s important.

On too many occasions I watched discussions at School Committee meetings being centered around the new high school. While this is important I couldn’t help but think what else was suffering as a result of that. After all, many of our elected officials graciously volunteer their time to sit on boards, but there is only so much time in a day.

We should take this time to take a hard look at our current faculty, curriculum, and other programs and we should find a permanent superintendent who wants to be a long-term part of our team to help us achieve our goals.

With regard to what happened at the School Committee meeting that fateful night, I can only think there were previous issues that led up to that outburst and those parents were the unfortunate trigger. I can understand that behavior from an elected official but it is unacceptable from a paid town official.

Obviously, people need to act professionally at all times when dealing with the general public, their questions and concerns. We are the people from which their paychecks come. Arrogance and disrespect have no place when dealing with the public.
