I sit patiently, expectantly at my living room window. Suddenly, the blue van appears at the end of the street. As the van slowly proceeds towards my house, I witness objects flying through the air gently alighting on my neighbors doorsteps. Silently, excitedly, I wait my turn.
The sun glints off of the plastic enveloping my paper as it gracefully arcs through the air and softly lands on my doorstep. I rush to the door and eagerly unwrap my present. As I unfold the paper, the pleasant smell of ink wafts through the air. My fingers enjoy the feel of the crisp, smooth pages as my eyes scan the front page. As I turn the pages, the crinkling of paper sounds pleasant to my ears.
Once again, the voice of democracy – The Daily News Transcript - is delivered to my front door. May my grandchildren and their children enjoy such a pleasant experience for years to come.
