To the Editor:
I wish to thank the gracious people who aided me in my incident in East Dedham Square on Tuesday, March 2. My destination was the Dedham Diner for breakfast and a morning walk turned into quite an experience. I fell face first down on the pavement after I stubbed my toe against the curb at the crosswalk.
Several people came to my aid and Megan identified me. Among others, Jim Johnson, Lisa Vercelli, Mary Meomartino, and Mark Dietzel walked me to the chair outside the diner. Bob the chef and Kimmy the waitress insisted that I stay sitting in the chair. Before I knew it, the East Dedham Firehouse, the Dedham Police, and EMTs were also there to assist me. Initially, I did not want to be transported to the West Roxbury VA Hospital. Fallon Ambulance service encouraged me to go. Bob the chef made me my breakfast sandwich and orange juice to go, and off I went to the hospital.
The emergency ward staff at the VA conducted a thorough check up and I want to thank them also. I did eat my breakfast while I was there. I ended up staying overnight.
I am recovering at home now with two perfect black eyes and grateful to all those concerned individuals who tended to me.
Sincerely,
Richard P. Kohut
A very proud resident of East Dedham
