NORWOOD —

The Norwood Day Committee chose two well-deserving residents who have shown their dedication to the town of Norwood for the Anne Lydon Volunteer of the Year Award. The award goes to Martha Colamaria and Dan Burns. Both of these individuals have volunteered many hours for numerous activities in town. They are always the first to raise their hands and offer their time and energy.

Martha Colamaria has been involved with many literary and educational activities through volunteer programs at the Morrill Memorial Library. She has been an active member of the Rotary Club and League of Women Voters. Martha is also involved with the Fourth of July, the Senior Center, Norwood Day, Caritas Hospital, and St. Catherine’s; she is always there with a smile and a helping hand.

Dan Burns is an individual who never says “no” to anything; his answer is always “Let’s figure out how we can do this.” He has been involved with Little League, Haunted House, Norwood Day, and Caritas Norwood Hospital. At Caritas Norwood Hospital, when a disaster or emergency happens, he is the first to call and come down to offer his time. His Norwood Day involvement started with him offering his help; he is now the individual in charge of signing up all of the activities we need. No sooner has Norwood Day ended and Dan is setting up for the next year.

In keeping with Anne Lydon’s spirit of volunteerism, the Norwood Day Committee is proud to have chosen these two individuals to receive the award.

Norwood has been blessed with many great volunteers that help make our town a better place in which to live.
