Senate passes education reform bill

The Senate voted 28-11 early Tuesday evening to pass an education reform bill aimed at boosting underperforming schools and allowing more charter schools.

Boston Celtics players were out last night for “The Truth Strikes Again,” celebrity bowling tournament at Kings Dedham. The fundraiser was for Celtics Captain Paul Pierce’s Truth on Health Campaign and FitClub34 by Harvard Pilgrim, which is designed to empower and inspire young people to lead healthier lifestyles.

Dedham Town Meeting OKs Avery School, hike to hotel and meals taxes and adults zoning swap

Special Town Meeting gave the Avery School and Dedham High School athletic complex projects key votes of support, upped Dedham’s meals and hotel taxes, and voted to move the town’s adult zoning to Legacy Place last night.

Asbury to helm Patrick political operation

Gov. Deval Patrick’s political committee has a new chief, as Sydney Asbury, his administration’s senior policy adviser, replaces Charlotte Golar Richie at the campaign, senior Massachusetts Democrats said Monday.

Keegan to keep Dedham post

DEDHAM —

Town Administrator William Keegan is staying in Dedham after all.

Keegan, whom the Mansfield Board of Selectmen chose to become that community’s town manager Nov. 4, announced this morning that he is withdrawing from further consideration for the position after he could not agree with Mansfield on a contract.
