An 81-year-old man pulling out of a parking spot at the Morrill Memorial Library Monday at 11:39 a.m. yesterday lost control and crashed into six parked cars, police say, causing front-end damage on the vehicles.
Police spokesman Paul Bishop said the driver believes he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, causing his car to careen into six parked vehicles in the library parking lot. Bishop said he does not have a damage estimate.
Police have turned the accident information over to the register of motor vehicles, said Bishop, which may revoke the man’s driver’s license, but police did not make any charges against him.
Library Director Charlotte Canelli said three of the cars belonged to library employees and no one was in the parking lot at the time of the accident.
