A Westwood firm that specializes in solid oxide fuel cells has extended its lease at its Southwest Park headquarters for another three years.
Acumentrics Corp. has renewed its 33,857-square-foot office lease at 20 Southwest Park, which is owned by Maric Inc. The company, founded in 1994, moved five years ago to the site, at the junction of routes 1 and 128.
FHO Partners, a commercial real estate firm, represented Acumentrics in the transaction. Rental terms were not disclosed.
Acumentrics sells power generators that employ a highly effective, tubular solid oxide fuel cell design. The company says its fuel cells, in contrast to standard engine- or turbine-powered generators, feature no compression or combustion cycles, minimal maintenance, and “negligible levels of pollutants.” The fuel cell systems can be used for silent power generation and combined heat and power, and are capable of running for over 10,000 hours.
The company is also known for its Rugged uninterruptible power supplies, or Rugged-UPS, which provide AC or DC power in harsh environments such as rain, heat, dust and sandstorms. Over 50,000 of those units are deployed in industrial and military situations, helping to keep computers and sophisticated electronic equipment online, according to Acumentrics.
