What is “Jog for Jobs?”
The goal of “Jog for Jobs” is to gather community organizations and businesses in an effort to sponsor summer paid internships for Dedham Youth. The commission is asking organizations or businesses to sponsor a paid internship for a teen by raising and donating $500. Then, sponsors will jog a mile on the Dedham High School Track May 4. T-Shirts will be provided.
Half of the proceeds raised at the event will benefit One Fund Boston on behalf of the Town of Dedham.
How can my organization or business raise the $500?
One idea is to ask employees, organization members, or patrons to make a donation in an effort to raise the $500.
Why should my organization or business participate?
Your donation of $500 will help the Youth Commission place a teenager in a month long internship this summer. Better yet, the internship could take place at your business or organization. Now that’s a “win, win” situation. Also, at the May 4 event, which is open to the public and will be covered by the local press, you can have a table or tent where you can display your current products and programs.
"Jog for Jobs" will also feature a live DJ, local student bands and a teen led Fashion Show regarding professional dress code.
The Youth Commission will place students in summer internships from July 8-August 2 for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Each student will be trained on professional attitude, proper dress code and work place etiquette.
