Dedham High School Principal Alan Winrow has accepted the position of principal at Mashpee High School, officials there say.
An April 18 e-mail announcement from Mashpee school Superintendent Ann Bradshaw stated that Winrow had accepted the position, writing that his strengths include "experience in the role and enthusiasm for this opportunity."
Winrow, 58, who was hired Dedham High School principal in 2000, will likely begin the Mashpee appointment in July, said current Mashpee Principal Lou Ann St. Cyr, who will retire from the post June 30.
Dedham school Superintendent June Doe declined comment on either Winrow's departure or the selection process for his successor, stating that Winrow is still under contract and employed as principal at Dedham High School. "It would be premature to entertain that discussion at this time," said Doe.
Winrow has not submitted a notice or letter of resignation, said Doe's assistant, Allison Potter.
Bradshaw, the Mashpee superintendent, interviewed Winrow last month along with two other candidates, chosen from six semifinalists.
Winrow will be the fourth principal to work at the high school since it was constructed in 1996. Before that, Mashpee students attended Falmouth High School.
Earlier this year, Winrow was a finalist for principal positions at Holliston High School and Medfield High School.
Before being hired to the Dedham position, Winrow, a Weymouth resident, was one of three assistant principals at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Winrow attended Malden High School and went on to major in English at Trinity College in Hartford. He served as an administrative assistant at Malden High School.
He holds education degrees from the former Boston State College and University of Massachusetts.
