Police arrested a 19-year-old Boston man after he threw his pregnant ex-girlfriend to the ground near the Super Stop & Shop on Providence Highway on Monday, said Lt. Robert Nedder.
Officers Brian Crump and Collin O’Sullivan were sent to the store around noon on Monday, Nov. 2, after receiving report of a physical assault.
Trevor Cargill, of 590 Walkhill St. Apt. 2, Boston, told the officers that his ex-girlfriend – who he called “my baby mama” – had punched him in the lip during an argument, Nedder said. He said they both worked at the supermarket, Nedder added.
The woman said she was walking to work past Dick’s Sporting Goods when a car beeped its horn at her, Nedder said. She saw Cargill driving, with a blonde woman in the passenger seat, and asked that woman if she had cheated on her with Cargill, police said. The blonde woman said she had and then “talked trash” to the victim, Nedder said.
Police said Cargill then got out of his car, started yelling at his ex-girlfriend, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, the victim told police. She said she got up and began hitting Cargill to defend herself, but he threw her down again and she hit her head on the pavement and cut her knee, Nedder said.
A witness told Crump she had seen the argument, that Cargill threw the woman on the ground when she tried to get away, and that when she stood up he struck her with a fist, Nedder noted. Cargill was arrested on an assault and battery charge, police said.
Cargill pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court that same day, and is due back in court for a pretrial hearing Dec. 1.
