DEDHAM – Police said they arrested Daniel Kelly, 24, of 78 Oak St. on charges of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and attempt to commit a crime following an incident at his home on the evening of Saturday, May 29.

Lt. Robert Nedder said that Officer Scott Porro had already told Kelly he was not welcome on the property earlier in the evening, before responding to the house again at 9:46 p.m. He found Kelly standing in front, by the street, saying he had a right to be there, Nedder said.

Porro tried to remove him, but Kelly pulled away, so Officer Brian Crump tried to grab a hold of him, but he pulled away again, according to Nedder.

Nedder said it took four officers to handcuff Kelly.

He said during the scuffle neighbors were looking out of their windows, hence the disorderly conduct charge. Kelly’s attempt to commit a crime was when he kicked the rear door of house trying to get inside, police said.

Kelly appeared in Dedham District Court June 1, and is due back there June 30, Nedder added.
