Police said they arrested Zachary Brown, 27, of 56 Congress Place, on several gun charges after a search of his home on Sunday, Jan. 24.

Lt. Robert Nedder said Detective Robert Walsh was granted a search warrant for Brown and his residence on Jan. 23, and Dedham police and Norwood detectives executed the warrant the next day at 11:15 a.m., recovering a 1917 Eddystone rifle, a 17-round, 9-mm feeding device, and many kinds of ammunition. Brown was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device and illegal possession of ammunition, Nedder said.

During the search for those items, police also noticed motorcycles in the basement in partial stages of disassembly, Nedder added. Police identified one of the motorcycles as one that had been reported stolen in Norwood, and so also charged Brown with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, Nedder said.

Police will continue their investigation and more charges may follow, as other recovered items are followed up on, Nedder added.

Brown pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court on Jan. 25, and is due back there for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 17, Nedder said.
