News to know

A penguin that escaped from a Tokyo aquarium in March was finally captured Thursday night, officials said. The 1-year-old penguin managed to scale a 13-foot wall when it made its escape, and it has been living in Tokyo Bay and nearby rivers since then. Officials feared the penguin would be hit by a boat, and had tried numerous times to catch the wily penguin, but no one was successful until it was caught on land Thursday.

Quote of note

"Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion. Although some weakening is forecast today, Bud is still expected to reach the coast of Mexico as a hurricane." - National Hurricane Center statement on Hurricane Bud, a Category 2 storm. It is not expected to affect the U.S. tonight.
