Walpole man charged with rape

A Pemberton Street man is being charged with rape after a morning assault in that neighborhood Tuesday, according to police.

Burt W. Blair, 47, of 150 Pemberton St., is being charged with rape and assault.

The assault took place around 7:30 a.m., according to police log entries.

Police log items also show the victim was taken to Caritas Norwood Hospital about an hour after the incident. She was then transported back to Walpole early that afternoon.

The victim did not know Blair, according to Deputy Police Chief Scott Bushway, which is rare in such cases.

It is also unknown how or where Blair was arrested.

According to the police log, Blair is being held on $25,000 bail.
