Police arrested two suspects early Wednesday morning following the theft of several tires and rims from cars at the Boch Honda vehicle storage lot at 111 Morse St.
A security guard discovered the thefts about 1:30 a.m. and subsequently notified Norwood Police, who stopped two people in a vehicle on Norwood Park South, according to police.
Jarrod Pomare, 21, of 2A Thane St., Boston, who was driving, was charged with larceny over $250, possession of burglar's tools, and wanton and malicious destruction of property.
A 16-year-old boy from Dorchester, who was not identified due to his age, was also arrested on the same charges.
Police were working Wednesday to determine if the pair may have committed similar crimes, according to Norwood police spokesman Paul Bishop.
"(The tires and rims) are a very salable item," Bishop said. "We've been inundated with these types of thefts in the last few months."
A total of seven tires and rims had been removed from two new Honda vehicles, police said. The vehicles were found resting atop plastic milk crates.
After summoning police, the security guard who discovered the thefts reported hearing voices and noticed two people running alongside a nearby fence. Police moved to Norwood Park South where they stopped the suspects in a Honda as the two were attempting to flee, police said.
Police noticed two lug nuts on the car's center console, Bishop said. Police searched the car and found 25 more lug nuts as well as two iron bars, gloves and a screwdriver, he said.
Police found the seven missing tires and rims stacked next to the fence where the suspects were seen running.
Police also noted damage to the two vehicle brake systems, which appeared to have resulted from the vehicles touching the ground after having their tires removed.
Thefts of vehicle parts rarely occur at Boch Honda, according to the dealership's Vice President of Property Michael Clemmey. Previous thefts have always resulted in arrests, Clemmey said.
"The Norwood police do a great job in working with our security officials," Clemmey said.
Pomare was arraigned Wednesday morning in Dedham District Court. The juvenile suspect will be arraigned sometime later this week, Bishop said.
