How did you end up in this line of work?
I started this business in 1992. There wasn’t a store that did favors or had imported giftware from Italy in any of the surrounding towns. Having been exposed to the custom of giving favors since I was a little girl in Italy, I wanted to bring a little bit of Italy to Dedham. Our customers over the years have truly become part of my extended family. I feel privileged to have been able to be a part of their happy occasions, starting with baby showers, Christenings, First Communions, Bridal Showers and, of course, their weddings.
What you most like about your work?
The best part of my work is when a customer says that I have exceeded her expectations. When you see a smile on their faces, it’s all good. I also like to display my orders in my window as I finish them and I enjoy seeing passersby peek in the window.
What makes your business unique?
The vast variety of favors samples and gifts that we carry is what sets us apart.
What's a typical day like for you?
Every order that I put together I try to keep unique, so every day is different. No two days are alike! Making sure that the orders scheduled for pick-up are indeed ready. Follow up on phone messages and Internet orders.
What do you like most about Dedham Square?
I like that most businesses are family owned which gives it a real sense of family.
