Man arrested on warrant charge

DEDHAM - Victor Vangel, 46, of 35 Hallron St. in Hyde Park, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 10, on four warrants, police said. Among the warrant charges, Vangel faces two warrants from Waltham District Court for two counts of assault and battery and one count of larceny over $250, police said.

Police: Man stole PSP

DEDHAM – Police arrested a 20-year-old Easton man after he placed a $250 game system under his jacket and walked out of Best Buy, before running across Providence Highway to Dedham Plaza, where he was finally caught, police said.

Gregory Christophe, 20, of 89 Kennedy Circle was charged with shoplifting over $100 by concealing merchandise. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court on Monday, Nov. 16, and is due back there for a pretrial hearing Dec. 21, said Lt. Robert Nedder.

Store employees told police that on Friday, Nov. 13, they were watching Christophe and a woman he was with – whom they suspected of stealing from Best Buy in the past – before Christophe went into a bathroom, cut open the sealed container of a Sony PSP, put the system beneath his jacket, and left, according to Nedder. A 2000 Ford Expedition that was waiting in front of the store appeared to be the getaway vehicle, but when Christophe came out the woman drove off, so he ran across the highway, Nedder said.

Three Dedham officers responded to Best Buy at 2:14 p.m. Officer Richard Flint located Christophe alongside the plaza, but he ignored an order to stop and kept walking in the opposite direction, before the other officers arrived and he was taken into custody, Nedder said.

Police arrest two on license charges

DEDHAM – Police said they arrested Erin Murphy, 19, of 17 Benjamin St. for driving with a suspended license. Murphy was stopped on Jersey Street in her red 2005 Mercury Sable and arrested on the charge shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, said Lt. Robert Nedder.

Murphy pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday in Dedham District Court, and is due back there for a pretrial conference Dec. 14, Nedder added.

Later Monday afternoon, at about 4:30 p.m., police stopped Alexis Rodriguez, 19, of 1919 Hyde Park Ave. in Hyde Park, on Milton Street and charged him with driving without a license, Nedder said. Rodriguez, who was behind the wheel of a white 1994 Acura Integra, only had a learner’s permit, not a license, Nedder said. He was arraigned Tuesday, with his case dismissed on $100 in court costs, Nedder added.
