Father charged with assault and battery

DEDHAM - Police said they arrested Harrelson Rivera, 35, of 333 Washington St. Apt. 1 in Dedham, on a charge he hit his teenage daughter Monday night.

"They had an argument which led to the assault, and he was placed under arrest," said Lt. Robert Nedder. Police received a call reporting the incident at 9:52 p.m.

Rivera was arraigned in Dedham District Court yesterday on a domestic assault and battery charge. He pleaded not guilty and is due back for a pretrial hearing July 30.

Teen charged with shoplifting, alcohol possession

DEDHAM - Police said they arrested a 16-year-old Brookline boy Saturday night after he was found carrying two bottles of alcohol while trying to leave BJ's Wholesale Club at 688 Providence Highway.

Lt. Robert Nedder said officers were sent to BJ's shortly after 8 p.m. to help a detail officer with a shoplifting suspect. BJ's store security and the officer there asked the teen to open his bag, but the teenager said he needed to leave and knew his rights, Nedder said.

In the bag, they found a bottle of New Amsterdam straight gin, a bottle of Three Olives vodka and a black dress shirt, Nedder said. The total value of the items was $50.97, he said.

The boy was charged with shoplifting and underage alcohol possession, and his case will be handled in juvenile court, Nedder said.

Police arrest two on warrants

DEDHAM - Police say they made two warrant arrests this week.

In the first, police arrested Dickey Bartley, 37, of 16 Abbott St., Dorchester. He had a warrant out of Dorchester District Court on a charge of driving on a suspended license and a civil infraction for failure to stop, said Lt. Robert Nedder.

Police took Bartley into custody on Sunday after a Bussey Street resident called at 5:47 p.m., saying a man was knocking on her window trying to talk to her, Nedder said.

On Monday morning, around 6, Dedham Police went to 140 Harding Terrace to assist U.S. marshals as they arrested a man there, Nedder said. He could not provide more details about that man.

While there, Nedder said, officers arrested Monique Russo, 19, who lives at 140 Harding Terrace. She had a warrant from Dedham District Court charging her with larceny over $250, Nedder said.
