Police said a Dedham man yesterday slammed his car into his girlfriend’s Audi on Bussey Street.
George Tannous, 27, of 21 Brookside Ave. was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, unarmed robbery, and domestic assault and battery, police said. He pleaded not guilty today during his arraignment in Dedham District Court
Lt. Robert Nedder said Officer Michael McMillan went to the area of 185 Bussey St. at about 5:45 p.m. yesterday after a report of an accident with injuries. There McMillan saw a light gray Audi A4 in the northbound lane facing north, and a white Acura 3.2 TL facing southbound in the same lane, leading him to conclude “the Acura had clearly crossed from the southbound lane and struck the Audi in a head-on collision,” Nedder said.
McMillan saw Tannous holding his head and stumbling toward the sidewalk, and rescue workers arrived to treat him, Nedder said.
The officer also spoke with the 29-year-old victim from West Roxbury who was being put into an ambulance. The victim met her boyfriend, Tannous, about 10 minutes earlier at East Dedham Plaza, where he accused her of cheating, Nedder said.
The girlfriend went to get some cash from an ATM, then entered Tannous’ car, Nedder said. After Tannous began yelling at her, she tried to leave, but he grabbed her and slammed her head off the dashboard, he added.
She was able to get free, and both left the plaza in separate cars, Nedder said. But as the girlfriend drove on Bussey Street toward Condon Park, she saw Tannous coming in the other direction, and “as he approached her, he turned his car right at her, and then he hits her car,” Nedder said.
Tannous then ran over to her car and grabbed money in her hand, police said.
Both people were taken to separate hospitals with minor injuries, Nedder said.
