Two drivers were taken to hospitals with possible injuries after a Chevrolet Astro van was struck by a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, causing the Astro to spin into a Honda Odyssey minivan, police said.
The accident – at the intersection of Washington Street and Incinerator Road by the Dedham Mall – was reported to police at 11:42 a.m. yesterday.
Lt. Robert Nedder said the 53-year-old Roxbury man who was driving the gray 2005 Chevrolet Astro reported having trouble seeing because of orange construction barrels on Washington Street. When he tried to turn left onto Incinerator Road, the man’s van was struck by the white 2006 Silverado truck, which was heading south on Washington, Nedder said.
“He pulled across Washington Street in front of the vehicle coming the other way because his view was obstructed, according to him,” Nedder said.
The Astro then spun into the front of a green 2005 Honda Odyssey that was on Incinerator Road. Nedder said the Odyssey was probably waiting to leave the Dedham Mall, which can be entered via Incinerator.
The 53-year-old Roxbury driver was taken to Faulkner Hospital with possible injuries, while the 45-year-old Natick man who was driving the Silverado was taken to Norwood Hospital, according to Nedder.
He said a driver and passenger in the third vehicle, the Honda, were not transported to the hospital.
