Two accused of using counterfeit check
DEDHAM - Two Mattapan men were arrested at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Best Buy on Providence Highway when the men attempted to use a counterfeit traveler's check, police said.
Charles Rezil, 18, of 205 Savannah Ave. and Reginald D. Voltaire, 18, of 25 Birchcroff Road, tried to use a forged $500 American Express traveler's check to purchase $165 worth of merchandise, Police Lt. Robert Nedder said.
Rezil told police he had received the check as a gift, but could not remember who gave it to him, Nedder said.
The men were charged with one count each of uttering a false instrument and attempting to commit a crime.
Assault charged
NORWOOD - A local man was arrested and charged with assault at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday at 105 Jefferson Drive, police said.
Joshua D. Martin, 17, was charged with assault and battery after he grabbed a 14-year-old girl by the neck and refused to let her go with a Department of Social Services employee who has monthly appointments with the girl, Police spokesman Paul Bishop said.
