A Fallon ambulance nearly made its way across a busy Providence Highway intersection before being struck by a minivan in the last lane of southbound traffic at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, police said.

Lt. Robert Nedder said the ambulance, coming from Eastern Avenue, stopped at a red light at the intersection. With its lights and sirens on, the ambulance began to cross the highway. The traffic headed south had a green signal, and while two lanes of southbound traffic stopped to yield, a red 2003 Honda Odyssey crashed into the ambulance in the last lane, Nedder said. Both vehicles were damaged in the front, with the ambulance’s fender left hanging limply because of the accident.

Nedder said no one was injured.
