Police arrested Brockton man on driving charges
DEDHAM – Police said they arrested Edward Nixon, 45, of 111 Riverview St., Brockton, for driving with a suspended license, subsequent offense, and having an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle.
Nixon was pulled over by 584 Providence Highway around 9:30 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 26, said Lt. Robert Nedder. Nixon pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court that day, and is due back there for a pretrial hearing Dec. 2.
Man arrested for driving on a suspended license
DEDHAM – Police said they arrested a 46-year-old Dedham man for driving with a suspended license and a crosswalk violation after he failed to stop for a pedestrian on High Street.
Lt. Robert Nedder said John Coppenrath, of 50 Sherman Rd., did not stop his white Dodge truck at the crosswalk on High by Maverick Street around 12:50 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.
Jamaica Plains woman arrested on multiple driving charges
DEDHAM – A Jamaica Plain woman was arrested on Monday, Oct. 26 around 2 p.m., after police said she took a right on a red and yellow light at Washington and High streets and almost hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
Officer Michael McMillan said he stopped Barbara Kelly, 37, of 386 Centre St., on Eastern Avenue, police said. Kelly gave McMillan an Irish driver’s license, and registration showing the plates belonged on a 1996 Volvo 850, Lt. Robert Nedder said.
She initially told police that she did not have a Massachusetts license, had been in the state for three months, and had bought her car the previous Thursday, Nedder said. But after McMillan learned that she had registered a red Volvo on Oct. 2, he returned to Kelly, who said she had actually been here seven years and had lied because she was scared, Nedder said.
She was arraigned in Dedham District Court Oct. 27. Criminal charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and attaching plates were dismissed on $100 court costs for each, Nedder said. For civil charges, Kelly was found responsible for a crosswalk violation and for having an unregistered motor vehicle, and found not responsible for a red light violation, he said.
Dedham man charged with restraining order violation
DEDHAM – Police said they arrested Sean Campbell, 56, of 70 Eastern Ave. for violating a restraining order after he drove by the house where his daughter and her mother live.
Campbell was later found by police in Dedham Square late in the afternoon on Monday, Oct. 26, said Lt. Robert Nedder. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court the next day, and is due back there for a pretrial hearing Friday, Nov. 13.
Norton man charged with shoplifting
DEDHAM – Police arrested Mark Curtin, 21, of 150 Mansfield Ave., Norton, for shoplifting by concealing merchandise after he took three DVDs and other items worth about $80 at the Super Stop & Shop on, said Lt. Robert Nedder.
Police responded to a shoplifting call at the Providence Highway store at 11:16 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, Nedder said. Curtin was arraigned in Dedham District Court that day, with his case dismissed for $200 in court costs, Nedder added.
Two arrested on warrant charges
DEDHAM – A police officer responding to a report of an unwanted party at 37 Walnut St., arrested Harley Libby, 27, and Kerry Donovan, 26, after he learned they both were wanted on warrants, police said.
Lt. Robert Nedder said Officer Michael Pucci went to the Walnut Street home on Tuesday, Oct. 27 around 1:50 p.m. Pucci arrested Libby on one warrant from Dedham District Court for driving with a suspended license, and on a second warrant for driving under the influence of liquor, driving with his license suspended as a habitual traffic offender, and procuring liquor for a person under 21, Nedder said. Police gave no address for Libby.
Donovan, of 5 Alandale Parkway, Norwood, was taken into custody on one warrant from West Roxbury District Court for a restraining order violation, and another warrant from there for the same charge, Nedder said.
