Police probing warehouse fire

DEDHAM - Police and fire departments are investigating whether vandals caused a fire at a vacant Whiting Avenue warehouse around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Fire Chief James Driscoll said the fire damaged the building at 408 Whiting Ave., but that it had been in a state of disrepair for a long time. No one was hurt and firefighters did not find anyone in the warehouse, he said.

Driscoll said the department has ruled out other possible causes and is determining whether someone caused the fire intentionally or accidentally.

Police looking for robbery suspect

DEDHAM - Police are looking for a white man in his mid to late 20s whom they suspect stole $740 worth of cosmetics from CVS at 270 Bussey St. on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, the store alerted police of the alleged shoplifter, who wore a grey T-shirt, faded blue jean shorts and a black Red Sox baseball cap and was shown on surveillance tapes placing makeup products in a bag, police said.
