DEDHAM —

In a minor Veterans Day accident, a commercial white van attempting to pass a red Chevrolet pickup truck rear-ended the truck, then veered off and hit a nearby telephone pole, police said.

Lt. Robert Nedder said the 70-year-old Dedham driver of the 2001 Chevrolet truck was taking a left from Sprague Street onto Stoughton Road when he was struck by the 2007 Nissan UD 2600 van, driven by a 66-year-old Bolton man. The van driver apparently tried to go around the truck as it left Sprague Street but did not quite make it, Nedder said.

No one was seriously injured in the accident, which took place about 11 a.m. Tuesday. The truck driver was, however, taken to Faulkner Hospital with "possible injuries," Nedder said.

The van driver was cited for improper passing, Nedder said.
