Police said they arrested Desiderio Lopez, 36, of 30 Calvary St. in Waltham, for second-offense driving under the influence, driving without a license, and a marked lanes violation after he was spotted driving erratically on Monday, March 8.
Officer Daniel Duchini was sent to the parking lot of Moseley’s on the Charles at 1:04 a.m. after police were called about a black pickup truck with a plow blade that had reportedly been going all over the road before pulling into the lot, said Lt. Robert Nedder. As Duchini headed north on Ames Street toward Moseley’s, he saw the pickup truck heading the opposite way very slowly at about 15 mph. The pickup crossed at least two feet into his lane, so Duchini pulled to the side to avoid it, Nedder said.
Duchini turned and caught up to the black 1996 Ford F-150 XLT, which stopped before the officer turned on his emergency lights, according to Nedder.
Duchini talked with the driver, Lopez, whose speech was slow and slurred and had alcohol on his breath. Police arrested him after he failed field sobriety tests, Nedder said.
Lopez pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Dedham District Court March 8 and is due back there for a pretrial hearing April 13, Nedder said.
