Teen arrested

DEDHAM - An 18-year-old man was arrested in Hyde Park Friday after a semiautomatic handgun was pointed at three people sitting in a car outside Stop & Shop on Providence Highway in Dedham, according to police.

Elvis Delacruz, 18, of 1098 Hyde Park Ave. was arrested on three counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon and a Department of Youth Services probation violation. Charges are being sought against another man, who actually pointed the gun at the car, police said.

Police went to the Dedham Mall at 2:53 p.m. after receiving reports that a man in a dark, hooded sweatshirt had gotten out of a red Ford Taurus with another man and pointed a gun at the victims, who were seated in a 1998 Chevrolet K1500. One of the victims, who was being dropped off by his two brothers at Stop & Shop for work, said he recognized the suspects.

The victims fled on Providence Highway and eventually lost the suspects.

Police arrested Delacruz after he showed up for work at Long John Silver's in West Roxbury.

Man arrested on warrant

DEDHAM - Police arrested a 44-year-old Dorchester man on a default warrant after store employees said he was seen stuffing $71 worth of meat inside his jacket and bag at Stop & Shop on Friday night.

Police arrested Reinaldo Figueroa of 44 Lucerne Street, a deli clerk at the supermarket, on a warrant out of Quincy District Court for operating with a suspended license.

Police responded to the store at 9:10 p.m. after receiving a call from loss prevention. Police spoke to Figueroa, ran his information in the system and came back with the warrant.

Supermarket employees will decide whether or not to take out charges against Figueroa for shoplifting, according to police reports.
