OUI charged
DEDHAM - A 17-year-old Dedham man was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and using a motor vehicle without authority early yesterday morning, police said.
An officer arrested Nicholas Deberry in the driveway of his Walnut Street residence after following him from Cedar Street at around 2:15 a.m., police said.
According to police reports, Deberry was driving without his headlights on and failed to stop for the officer after he turned on his blue lights and followed him back to the residence.
At one point, the officer pulled in front of Deberry's vehicle in an attempt to stop him, but Deberry attempted to pass him by crossing the double yellow line on Walnut Street, according to the police report.
Police allege that Deberry also drove around another officer who attempted to stop him by positioning his cruiser across the travel lane.
Deberry told police he did not stop because the car belonged to his mother and he didn't want it to get towed because he was driving without a license.
Deberry admitted that he had been drinking earlier in the day and his eyes appeared glassy and bloodshot, according to police reports.
Unwanted visitor charged
DEDHAM - Police yesterday at 3:13 a.m. arrested Michelle Lowe, 38, of 38 Emmett Ave., for a default warrant out of Dedham District Court for larceny under $250 and a new charge - malicious destruction of property.
The owner of a Dedham residence called police at 1:50 a.m. to report an unwanted person, Lowe. The resident said he had gotten into an argument with Lowe after she showed up at the residence and refused to leave, according to police reports. He said Lowe was yelling and smashed a scooter on the front door of the house, according to police reports. By the time officers arrived, however, Lowe was gone.
The owner called police back about one hour later and said that Lowe had ripped the screens off the bedroom windows. He asked that she be removed from the house.
She was placed into protective custody and transported to the station, at which time police discovered there was a warrant for her arrest. They also charged her with malicious destruction of property for last night's incident.
Teen arrested for license violation
DEDHAM - A 19-year-old Dedham resident was arrested on an outstanding default warrant out of Dedham District Court for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and a marked lanes violation, according to reports.
Krista Corbett, 51 Hamilton Ave., was arrested at the Econolodge in Sharon on Sunday at 9:03 p.m.
Man held after knife report
DEDHAM - A 30-year-old Hyde Park man is being held on $500 bail after he allegedly threatened two security workers with a pocketknife at T.J. Maxx on Sunday at around 2 p.m., police said.
Immigration and Customs officials placed an order to hold Evardo Campbell, originally from Jamaica, after his arrest by Dedham police.
Campbell, of 552 Metropolitan Ave., Hyde Park, was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, shoplifting, carrying a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery on Sunday after he allegedly threatened two security workers at T.J. Maxx, according to police reports.
The security workers told police Campbell had walked out of the store without paying for $143.95 in various items including T-shirts, a towel, jeans and boxer shorts.
When security staff brought Campbell into an office, he allegedly grabbed one of them and pushed him against the door, pulling out a small pocketknife, police said. Campbell did not open the blade, according to police.
Boston man nabbed for shoplifting
DEDHAM - Gary Kerr, 34, of 15 Helen St., Dorchester, was arrested for shoplifting at around 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, after a T.J. Maxx employee allegedly saw him try to walk out of the store with three pairs of boxer shorts, according to police.
A security worker called Dedham Police to report that Kerr had attempted to leave the store with the clothing, worth an estimated $32.99, according to police.
Disturbance at store leads to arrest
DEDHAM - Elijah James Grant, 20, of 14 Wayne St., Boston, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Friday and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace after he allegedly threw bakery goods on the floor of Stop & Shop and attempted to get inside the back office of Moviestop on Providence Highway, police reports say.
Police were called to the Dedham Mall supermarket for the report of someone destroying merchandise. When police arrived a Moviestop employee said Grant was trying to get into the back office of the store. When police approached Grant, he seemed nervous and was muttering incoherently, according to police reports.
He was placed under arrest and transported to Dedham police headquarters.
