Citing a perceived lack of support from the Board of Selectmen, longtime Conservation Commission Chairman William Gorman resigned last night, saying he felt that he would not be reappointed if he put himself forward for another term.

The educational band Manguito brought a taste of Latin American culture to Riverdale School students yesterday, filling the auditorium with rhythmic, rich music from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

Appearing in town yesterday, House Speaker Robert DeLeo repeated that "everything is on the table" for possible tax increases in the state budget, but said an income tax hike is not politically realistic, and that support for meals and hotel room taxes is "up in the air."

Fancy the paint mare found a new home Thursday afternoon. After a tumultuous weeklong stay in East Dedham, Fancy took up residence at Westwood's Wildstar Farm, whose owners are providing her with a free stall.

Most Dedham coaches against switching leagues

Leading up to last night's public debate over Dedham High School's possible switch from the Bay State Conference to the Tri-Valley League, the Dedham Coaches Association came out strongly against the move, announcing that its members voted 17-3 against the transfer.
