A Walpole man is being charged with rape after an alleged assault in his Pemberton Street apartment last week, according to Walpole Police.
Police also say Burt W. Blair, 47, of 150 Pemberton St., knew the alleged victim.
He entered no plea at his arraignment last Wednesday.
The alleged attack took place around 7:30 a.m. July 15 in Blair's apartment in a complex where the victim also lived, according to Deputy Chief Scott Bushway. The two had spent the night out together and the incident allegedly took place after they returned, said Bushway.
To his understanding, Bushway said, the two were out together but were not dating.
The alleged victim called police and identified the man as her attacker. The deputy chief said the woman was sent to Caritas Norwood Hospital for treatment and the "collection of evidence." Walpole Police arrested the man without incident.
The alleged victim returned home that afternoon, he said.
Blair was brought to Norfolk County Jail and was ordered held on $25,000 bail. A pretrial conference before Judge Jonson Smith is set for Aug. 4 at Wrentham District Court.
