The body of a 23-year-old Dedham man was reportedly recovered from a river in downtown Providence this afternoon, two and a half days after he was last seen.

Gregory Hart was pulled from the water of the Woonasquatucket River near Kinsley Street at about 2 p.m., according to news station WPRI.

Hart went out with friends Saturday night, taking a cab to the Red Room Bar, at 1 Fox Place, and was last seen alive when he walked out the door there at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday.

A Facebook page devoted to finding Hart became a central gathering place for hundreds of people concerned about him today, as friends hoped and prayed for his safe return.

“I'm so sorry for what has happened, I cannot even imagine what all of his family and friends are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with his family,” wrote Viktoria Stumpek of Agawam.

A Providence police lieutenant on the case could not immediately be reached for comment.
