The first fully professional symphony orchestra in the Neponset Valley will be making its debut Oct. 5.

The Neponset Valley Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its premier concert that Sunday at 3 p.m., with a classical concert at the new Showcase Live, Patriot Place, Foxboro (next to the movie theatre).

The program will feature “Symphony no. 5 in C minor” by Ludwig Van Beethoven, “Impressario Overture, k. 486” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and “Concerto for Violin in E minor” by Felix Mendelssohn with Marcus Placci, violin soloist.

The NVPO is the first fully professional symphony orchestra in the Neponset Valley.

“The price of a ticket to one of our concerts is comparable to a parking space in Boston for a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert,” said conductor Lawrence Isaacson. “We envision our audience members being able to leave their homes less than thirty minutes before the concert starts and sit comfortably in their seats with time to spare — no charge for parking and no long commute into the city. And the level of our music-making promises to be quite high.”

Tickets at www.nvporchestra.org are: adults, $30; seniors, $20; and students, $5. Reserved seating costs $300 for booths of six and $200 for booths of four. Group discounts are available. For more information, call 781-381-3300.

Isaacson is the Assistant Director of the Music Division, Boston Conservatory; Guest Conductor, Aspen Music Festival, Colorado, and Round Top Festival, Texas; and Director of Orchestras, Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, New York.

“When founding this orchestra, we thought that for such a densely populated area, it seemed surprising that the Neponset Valley had such little classical music to speak of,” Isaacson said. “We decided that the best way to fill that void would be to introduce symphonic music to the region at affordable prices for the entertainment and education of adults and children alike.

Nicki Meade Draves, Executive Director of the NVPO, is launching a $300,000 fundraising campaign to support the orchestra. She is reaching out to businesses and individuals throughout the Neponset Valley and beyond for fundraising support.

A trained singer, Meade Draves studied voice from an early age and has been working as a development professional for 15 years in arts and education.

“Eventually, we want the orchestra to be a vehicle for education in the public schools,” Meade Draves said. “Funding for arts programs is often a lower priority and often cut from the budgets. With the NVPO, we’ll have the talent and resources to fill some of the void.”

The orchestra is hoping to raise enough funds to offer two classical concerts during the 2008-2009 season. Draves said she hopes to expand to four concerts the following season (three classical and one pops) and to expand the orchestra’s musical offerings throughout the Neponset Valley with educational and chamber concerts.

Current collaborators are Hunakai Studio and Dauphinee Gallery, Oliver Ames Estate, and the Canton Art Association. Other cultural organizations are encouraged to collaborate.

The musicians of the NVPO are young up-and-coming artists, all of whom have a music conservatory education and a music career, according to Isaacson.
