The Children’s Department at the Westwood Public Library has an exciting summer of events planned.
Having Fun With Fossils and Dinosaurs, Thursday, July 10 at 4 p.m.
Fossil hunter Paulette Morin will bring over 100 of her fossils from around the world. Children will get a chance to look at and handle the fossils, and will learn how they can also become fossil hunters.
Jungle Adventures Friday, July 18 at 4 p.m. at the Main Library; Thursday, Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Islington Branch library (registration required for the branch show).
This is a live animal show. Some of the animals that Jungle Encounters features are a Patagonian cavy, rabbit, Bengal cat, ferret, chinchilla, hedgehog, skunk, alligator, and fennec fox. Different animals at each show.
Dance Dance Revolution, Thursday, July 24, 7 to 8:30 pm (Recommended for grades three and up)
Children get to show off their skills with the Dance Dance Revolution video game.
The Southwick Zoo will bring seven or eight animals to show and talk about. Some of the animals they work with are tortoises, an African porcupine, lizards, snakes, a large parrot, and a kangaroo.
A day to play board games at the library. Games will include Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry, etc.
The Central Mass Repertory Theatre presents The Dueling Story Tellers, Monday, Aug 18, 2 p.m.
An interactive musical comedy featuring a duel between the Grimm Brothers and Aesop.
Harry Potter Game Night, Thursday, Aug 2, 7 to 8:30 pm (Recommended for grades three and up)
Play the game Harry Potter Scene-It, a trivia game about the Harry Potter movies.
Spooky Campfire Stories, Tuesday, Aug 26, 7 p.m. (Grades three to five)
Librarians tell very scary campfire stories; not for the faint-hearted!
