Thursday, Oct. 29

Mystery Authors Night - The Friends of Dedham Public Library and the New England Sisters in Crime are sponsoring Mystery Authors Night, on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Dedham Public Library at 43 Church St. The event will bring together four New England mystery writers, Jan Brogan author of “Teaser,” Kate Flora author of “Stalking Death,” Sheila Connolly author of “Rotten to the Core” and Ruth McCarty editor and publisher of “Deadfall,” an anthology of crime stories by New England writers. Refreshments and a raffle drawing for a New England Crimebake tote with signed books and books available for purchase. Seating is limited. Call 781- 751-9178 to register.

Halloween happenings – Traditions of Dedham, at 735 Washington St. will host a magic show and trick or treat event on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. To RSVP call 781-251-9330.

Radio Disney’s Halloween Event – On Thursday, Oct. 29, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Radio Disney is hosting a Halloween-themed evening of family fun at Dedham Health and Athletic Complex, 200 Providence Highway. There will be plenty of festive tunes, games for all ages and tons of prizes. The Radio Disney team will be dressed in their finest Disney Halloween gear, so be sure to have children wear their own costumes too! In addition to music and games, children and adults can decorate their own mini pumpkins, follow the trick or treat trail, and have their faces painted in Halloween fashion. Blue Bunny - “Playdates for Grown-ups: Getting back in touch with your childhood dreams,” a workshop for adults with Joyce LaTulippe and Kathleen McClaske will be held Friday Oct. 30 from 7 - 9 p.m. at The Blue Bunny, 577 High St. The workshop is designed to transport you back to your creative genius as you rediscover the power of your imagination at plan. Saturday, Oct. 31

Have an Uno Halloween – Uno Chicago Grill, at 270 Providence Highway, has several activities planned for Halloween day. On Oct. 31, children’s activities will run from 11 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m. The events include pumpkin decorating, a free make-your-own pizza for any kid who comes in a costume and healthy food trivia event. Later that night from 8 until closing, adults can enjoy Halloween-themed cocktails and a costume contest. There will also be a Halloween Trivia contest with prizes. Information: www.unos.com.

Halloween Dinner and Dance - The U.S.S. Jacob Jones VFW Post 2017 and its Ladies Auxiliary, at 84 Eastern Ave. will hold a Halloween Dinner and Dance, on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 12 to 5 pm. at the post hall on Eastern Avenue. An Italian dinner will be served and a disc jockey will provide. Donation is $15 per person. Proceeds from this event will go to provide Christmas packages for local troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. For tickets call Frank 508-446-0267, tickets are also available at the post home. Come join us for good food and afternoon of fun. Donations for packages can be sent to VFW Post #2017, PO Box 427 Dedham, Ma 02027. If you have some one that you would like to receive a package, name and address can be sent to same address.

Halloween Photo Contest - Discover Music & Art teams up with Armando Cassono Salon for the Annual Halloween Costume Photo contest on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get your hair and makeup done at Armando’s, then get your photo taken at The Studio at 565 High St. (enter through Cafe Video Paradiso). The free event is open to all ages. Return to The Studio after Nove. 2, and vote for your favorites. Winners will be announced on Nov. 9. Win “Spooky Funny Cutie” prizes from Armando Cassano, The Blue Bunny, Cafe Video Paradiso and Discover Music & Art.

Tuesday, Nov. 3

Support Dedham Food Pantry – Shop at Whole Foods Market in Dedham on Nov. 3 and the grocery store will donate 5 percent of the day’s net sale to the food pantry.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

Norfolk County Republicans to hold kickoff fundraiser - “Republicans, Start Your Engines,” on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the F1 Boston racing facility at 290 Wood Road in Braintree.
