International bestselling author Sue Grafton heads a capital cast of writers, forensic experts, agents and editors spelling excitement and success for the New England Crime Bake, Nov. 13-15, at the Hilton Boston/Dedham.
In a year when even major mystery conferences have seen dips in attendance and several regional conferences have been cancelled, the eighth annual Crime Bake is sold out.
The New England Crime Bake program combines author panels with master classes on writing and publishing, presentations by experts in firearms and crime investigation, manuscript critiques and individual pitch sessions with agents who represent the crime genre.
Other presenters include New England authors Joseph Finder, Michael Palmer, Lisa Gardner, Jane Haddam, Mark Arsenault, Cynthia Riggs, James Hayman, Glenn Cooper, John Elefteriades, Lynne Griffin, Francie Lin, Stacy Juba, Paul Tremblay, Jedediah Berry, Jan Brogan, Dana Cameron, Kate Flora, Rosemary Harris, Toni L.P. Kelner, Mary-Ann Tirone Smith and Dave Zeltserman
Special guest and keynote speaker Sue Grafton is the author of the bestselling “alphabet” mysteries featuring private investigator Kinsey Milhone. The series debuted in 1982 with “A is for Alibi,” and the latest novel, “T is for Trespass,” was a #1 New York Times bestseller. “U is for Undertow” is scheduled for release Dec. 1, 2009.
Grafton was named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America at the annual Edgar Awards in 2009. The award represents the pinnacle of achievement in the mystery genre and was established to acknowledge important contributions to the genre, as well as significant output of consistently high-quality material.
Grafton has been praised for her buoyant style, her eye for detail, her deft hand with character, her acute social observances, and her abundant storytelling talents. Her novels are published in 28 countries and 26 languages, including Estonian, Bulgarian, and Indonesian.
The Crime Bake is sponsored by the New England chapters of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime.
