If You Don't Like It, Don't Read It

After my last couple posts a few months back, I received yet again more "hate mail" from readers so I decided to take a break and focus on my pregnancy.

Now, that my adorable little girl is here, I am back at taking a stab at writing. So here's the deal... for all the readers out there (who actually aren't even members of my blog) who feel they need to take the time to write me mean messages and emails because they don't agree with me over a skirt or my opinion on hair color, please don't waste your energy angrily typing on your keyboard! Frankly, I don't care for your negativity. I actually smirk and forward the mean emails to my dad to laugh at! I'm just a girl who loves clothes and wants to write about fashion.

And remember... if you don't like, don't read it. Wouldn't you rather direct your energy towards blogs that make you happy? So, please just enjoy!

LOVE Plato's Closet!

Do you ever walk into a consignment shop and immediately feel grossed out by all the different smells and unorganized clothes?... because I do. That's the one reason I have never been a consignment girl until now. My husband suggested we poke our heads into a place called Plato's Closet in Jacksonville, FL, to find my favorite Hollister jeans for less. When I walked into the large store full of designer scarves, Vera Bradley's, and A&F polo's, I have to admit that I felt at home.

For one thing, the mall always overwhelms me, not to mention I hate teasing myself by just "window shopping"... I mean, what fun is staring at clothing I can't afford? That's why Plato's Closet is my new favorite girl toy store because it's all affordable and full of current fashions from wedges, leather jackets, and costume jewelry. Checking out the rows of never ending denim, I managed to find about 7 pairs of Hollister jeans in my size and I purchased 4 of them... for $80! Do you realize that a normal pair of Hollister jeans in the actual Hollister store start at $69? And I just bought 4 pairs for $80! That's unbelievable if you ask me.

The deals in Plato's are ridiculous. I didn't check all the brands and prices, but along with Hollister jeans for $22 a pair I did see Abercrombie, Express, Aeropostale, and DKNY. Why buy full price denim ever again?

Not to mention, they are one of the only consignment shops I know that give you cash on the spot for your clean gently used clothing. My husband and I consigned a box of his old tee's and a few of my dresses and Plato's gave us $99 cash right there! Plus, they give you a shopping discount card that eventually gets you 20% off your purchase. I'm still in shopping awe! Check out the latest trends and look for a Plato's Closet near you at Platoscloset.com.

I'm Obsessed...

I've always been a fan of Australian pop queen Kylie Minogue's music, but never a fan of her fashion until recently. Now granted, I would never wear this ensemble together (short shorts and a leather jacket with 6 inch booties) because it's a little skanky even for me... and I love going gaudy! But while shooting her new music video in London not too long ago, Kylie looked smoking hot for a cancer surviving woman in her 40's.

I've become so obsessed with Kylie's heart moto jacket that it's got me losing sleep at night! I love the quilted pattern with the black and white patches, the zippers up the sleeves are classic rocker chic, and my favorite part of course is the big red heart on the front!

There are so many plain black leather jackets out there but this one is so different because of the eye catching red heart. Any girl would be sure to get noticed in a crowd wearing this jacket, if I could only figure out who made it! The only qualm I have with the jacket is that on the back is a giant white peace sign and I absolutely hate peace signs. Looking sexy is all in a days work for Minogue, the pop diva looked hot in this pic from www.imnotobsessed.com.

Fashionable Moments: Emily Blunt

Omg.com had this pic of actress Emily Blunt at a recent NYC movie premiere wearing a gorgeous red floral lace Michael Kors dress she paired with a tan clutch, matching heels, and a thin tan belt. This look is completely timeless and the bright red color looked amazing against Emily's fair skin.

Since I first saw her on the silver screen, I've admired Blunt's fashion choices. I remember writing about the actress in a fashion article for my school paper when I was a senior in high school. And, I just saw Emily on The Ellen Show the other day looking completely chic and style forward wearing a form fitting Victoria Beckham number.

I think the 29-year-old is one of the prettiest and funniest actresses in Hollywood right now. From The Devil Wears Prada to The Five Year Engagement, Emily Blunt is comical and stylish in every way.

Star Studded Style Event... But Minus the Style

Stella McCartney recently held a star studded style event in West Hollywood... but where was all the style?

Kristin Stewart and Ginnifer Goodwin were the only two actresses that People's Style Watch site had photos of at the event. And if those were the only two "A- list celebs" that Stella McCartney could get to attend, then well she doesn't know real celebs now does she.

Where were Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Kate Hudson, Liv Tyler, and anyone else in Hollywood who has style? I'd be seriously embarrassed if I were the British designer to have Stewart and Goodwin show up to a major event with my name on it. First of all, neither would have even gotten an invite due to the fact that neither can dress (and this was a style event) nor act for that matter (my chinchilla would have done a better job as Bella in all 23,000 Twilight movies).

If you don't believe me, just take a look at these pics above from People's Style Watch site. At first glance, I did an, "OMG! Hahaha Kristin looks so stupid!" What was she thinking going out in public like this? She looks like a hungover rocker who just mugged a Catholic school girl.

And Kristin's hideous outfit doesn't make Goodwin's poor taste in clothing, accessories, or hair any less wrong. Goodwin's dress is pure ugly and the clutch matches nothing, not to mention she is still sporting that ridiculous Peter Pan hair do. Helloooo, you look like a boy!

For the designer's sake, I really hope there were other actual A-list celebs in attendance. If these two are the new faces of the Stella McCartney brand, then I guess the designer is just begging to go out of business.

Fashionable Moments: Jessica Alba

When it comes to holiday attire, I'm very big on, "Go get dressed real nice and don't look frumpy." But this pic from Omg.com of Jessica Alba and her family from Easter was fashionably inspiring to me.

Jessica looked cute and casual in a white shirt under a fantastic must have gray sweater that she paired with pale blue skinny jeans and neutral colored flats. The mother of two topped off her look with a great big comfy scarf and an orange crossover bag that popped against the other muted tones she was sporting.

As for her family, husband Cash looked quite relaxed in loose fitted pants and a white long sleeve shirt while daughter Honor donned a cute bright floral Easter dress with flats. This is something I can see my future family wearing out on a day like that. My husband is very good with letting me dress him for holidays and I've always taken a relaxed approach with his attire being he has a "laid back Hawaiian" personality. I usually send him out in a button down from the Gap or a Ralph Lauren polo while the "city girl" in me opts for a dress and heels almost 100% of the time.

Quite honestly, I'm impressed with Alba for once. She is one of the very few celebs who I feel is over exposed... let's face it, the girl can't act and she looks like a toddler. But here, I am being drawn into her outfit and how much a statement it made without even trying. I may have to revamp my wardrobe to a more relaxed and chic one rather than always reaching for a dress. Touche, Jessica... you got me this time.

She Doesn't Got It Going On

Kate Bosworth is still suffering in the style category. This pic from People's Style Watch shows the actress (who is still famous though I'm not sure what she has been in since Blue Crush) who looks completely dowdy and washed out in this outfit that is way too big on her thin sickly frame.

I think the pale pink blouse would have looked better if she wore a pair of jeans instead of that loose fitted skirt with all those buttons. This skirt ruins the entire look. And what is with hamster size purses? What could she possibly have in there? I've never used anything that can't fit my wallet, makeup case, Purell, sunglasses, iPod, phone, keys, aspirin, cardigan, and dog treats!

To top it off, she wore a small brown wedge sandal with an ankle strap which did nothing for her. I don't get this look. This entire look is something I'd expect from Jennifer Garner who thinks that just because she landed Ben Affleck she doesn't have to try and look good anymore. But hey, I guess some guys don't like pretty girls!

Well, Bosworth is still my top most unfashionable person in the world. I don't even know if "How Do I Look" or "What Not to Wear" could help this girl. I continuously hope that the girl will get some style, be able to keep a guy, and live happily ever after, but unfortunately she is stuck in a rut of poor style taste.

Fashionable Moments: Natalie Portman

Spring is definitely in the air for Natalie Portman. The Oscar winner was photographed in Paris wearing a darling little black dress with her hair up in a bun. The best part of the look, though? The chic trench coat of course!

This pic of Natalie from Popsugar.com, shows how stylish the star actually is. A simple trench can change an entire outfit from dowdy to glamorous. I don't know if this trench is Burberry or Target, but price doesn't matter one bit. Either way, this coat does its job of adding that extra dose of luxury to her look.

Think about all the ways you can wear a trench... a rainy day, a windy day, a chilly day, simply just because it looks great on you... all valid reasons. People seem to think finding the right fitting trench in their budget is a difficult task but I assure you, it's not.

Sure, who wouldn't love to own a $1,500 Burberry trench? If I won the lottery I would own one. But as a "Style Lioness" I have to be reasonable and that's why my favorite go to store for trench's is Old Navy. Made well, under $40 every time, and always a variety of colors, Old Navy is a fan favorite when it comes to dressing your best for less. After all, owning a trench is a must have key piece for your wardrobe.

Michelle vs. Nicki...

This morning I came across this pic from People's Style Watch site of actress Michelle Williams wearing the same black leather Valentino dress as Nicki Hilton. Honestly. I've always found both of these women extremely unfortunate looking (and that's me saying "ugly" the nice way), so it's hard for me to see who wore it better. But I think it's obvious that even the Hilton heiress rocked this frock. Williams looks like a 12-year-old boy in everything she wears... even if it is Valentino!

If I had the kind of fashion power that Valentino had, I would never let Michelle Williams wear any of my pieces. This past award season, Williams has made everything he's designed look terrible. Valentino should be dressing real women's bodies like Cameron Diaz or January Jones. If he's going to dress Williams then he mind as well put Matt Damon in a gown. But I digress!

Michelle didn't even choose the right pair of heels to wear with this piece. Why do stylists put women in nude heels? I know that it is supposed to elongate the leg but in my opinion, it winds up making women who aren't olive skinned toned or black look sickly and colorless. I would have liked to see the actress in a bright shoe like blue, red, or yellow at least. Nicki on the other hand looks sexy in this dress with her wavy blond hair down and I don't mind the bright clutch with the ugly shoes that don't match.

Oohh well. Another day, another style war... that's life.

Pink Hair... No Thank You

You don't have to be a celebrity to try crazy hair colors from Katy Perry's rainbow locks to now Willow Smith's pink head of hair, (pic from Seventeen.com). But do you really want to try ridiculous hair colors?

At least we know Katy Perry is an adult and eccentric to begin with, but Willow Smith has to be, what... thirteen, if that? And she is already dying her hair stupid colors. She doesn't even look cute, I'm not a fan of celebs dying their whole heads a bright and unnatural color. I'm not just picking on Smith either. Even when Perry went all blue last spring at an award show, I wasn't a fan.

I may not be a hair dresser or a mother of a teenage girl but I never once asked my parents to try ugly hair colors. I have two teenage cousins who never once wanted to try a whacky color. In high school, I tried to go blond but being a natural brunette it came out red. Give me some credit, at least I didn't try blue, green, or pink. As someones who appreciates style, don't let me fool you, I definitely judge at times. And when I see people with pink hair walking around, I think one thing... starving for attention!
