Spring is the weirdest time for beers.

Don’t believe me, look at Sam Adams. They’ve had three different spring beers in the last three years.
The problem is that spring doesn’t happen on the calendar until March 21st, but meteorologically its begins March 1. However, spring beers show up January 1st. Winter has existed for about week at that point, but yet the Spring beers show up right when winter has begun.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when its still 15 degrees outside I want something dark like an imperial stout, or brown ale. Anything that is dark, and robust on a cold night in the winter is ideal. Yet, I see these white ales, and bocks in the middle of winter. Those beers are perfect for early March to April, but January 1? Seriously?
People still want to drink the Winter beers in winter. There has to be a more sane way to sell us beer that is still perfect for winter, and early spring. Maybe a mixed six pack, or mixed twelve pack that would be a winter/spring collection. I know we’re all looking forward to spring, but can’t we hang on to the winter beers until at least February?
