Selina Flynn and Donnie Fernandes were united in marriage on Oct. 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Church, Norton.

Paul Gately, son of Veronica and the late Allan Gately, of Cottage Street in Norwood, was recently promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant with the Connecticut State Police.

George M. Ruboy was inducted as the new President of the Norwood Rotary Club in a special ceremony in Providence, R.I., by the President of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization of more than 1.2 million members.

Each year at its annual conference in April, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Massachusetts chooses from among its member clubs a woman who exemplifies strong leadership qualities. Jean Martens, a member of the Dedham Junior Woman’s Club, is the 2008 winner of this prestigious award.

Seven Norwood High School teachers were recently honored at a retirement party held in their honor at Lantana’s in Randolph.

For this year’s Norwood High seniors, the Post Prom Party was a scene right out of Hollywood and Vine where students celebrated “Lights, Camera, Norwood” in those Hollywood Hills. It was held on Friday, May 16, at the Norwood Recreation Department’s Civic Center on a rainy spring evening.
