Rockland offers chance to `Meet the President'

Rockland Trust recently held a ``Meet the President'' event at the bank's Franklin branch. The event was designed to provide residents the opportunity to get to know Rockland's president and CEO Christopher Oddleifson. During the event, Oddleifson presented the Franklin Food Bank with a food donation. The contribution resulted from an ongoing food drive Rockland Trust held at its 11 local branches over the past few weeks.

 

Jewish Community Centers elects governing board

The governing board of directors of the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston Inc. (JCCGB) recently elected Jonathan Samen of Lexington to succeed Jeffrey Savit as chair. Samen, a senior partner in the law firm of Riemer & Braunstein LLP, has served on the JCCGB Board since 1998. The board also elected officers Nancy K. Belsky of Waban vice chair; Ginny MacDowell of Wayland, secretary; and Rick Mann of Needham, treasurer. Carolynn Levy of Brookline and Jeffrey Glassman of Sharon were elected members of the board.

 

Pongo Resume celebrates anniversary with contest

Pongo Resume, a Northborough-based online resume-building service, recently kicked off its five-year anniversary celebration with a summer-long Twitter Trivia Contest. The contest gives job seekers (or anyone for that matter) an opportunity to answer trivia questions throughout the day by following PongoResume on Twitter (@PongoResume) and a chance to win prizes.

 
 
 Marlborough chamber awards scholarships

The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce recently awarded five, $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from local high schools. Winners of the scholarships include: Stephanie Rocha of Marlborough High School who will be attending UMass Amherst; Kaila Harpin of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School who will be attending Springfield College; Christopher Amorim of Hudson High School who will attend Johnson & Wales University; Jessica Jarrard of Hudson Catholic High School who will Stonehill College; and Blake Reeves who lives in Marlborough and graduated from Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science at WPI who will further his studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The $5,000 was raised through the 5K Run/Walk for Fun sponsored by the Wayside Racquet and Swim Club each year.

 

Wayside race takes place June 24 in Marlborough

The 5K Run/Walk takes place Wednesday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wayside Racquet and Swim Club at 80 Broadmeadow Road in Marlborough. Sponsorships are available by calling Darren McLaughlin at Wayside at 508-481-1797. Pre-registration costs $15. Participants can register online at www.firm-racing.com/events.asp. Registration on race day costs $20. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered athletes. On race day the first 25 registrants receive a T-shirt. Following the race will be a free ``thank you'' cookout for all race participants.

Gulf Oil announces new partnership

Framingham-based Gulf Oil L.P. recently selected Power Management Co. as its preferred vendor for electricity and natural gas procurement for more than 1,400 gasoline retail centers in the Gulf-branded network. Gulf's goal is to help its branded operators decrease their utility costs and examine how to better manage energy usage. This partnership will help deliver measureable savings and improve their operating margins, according to Gulf. Power Management has offices in Plymouth and Rochester, N.Y.

 

Jackpot Rewards offers July 4th extravaganza

Jackpot Rewards, a Newton-based online shopping and rewards site, this week announced its 4th of July Extravaganza Sweepstakes that will award a guaranteed $100,000 jackpot prize to a lucky winner to celebrate the Fourth of July. The grand-prize winner will be surprised with an on-location check presentation on America's birthday. Active members will automatically be entered into the contest and do not need to take any action. Finalists for the $100,000 jackpot will be chosen and announced between June 17 and 26 with one name selected each day.
